Although most of the cheap players say they're DivX compatible, not all of them are able to play the different variants of the format: AVI files with the FourCC code DX50 cannot be played back.

Still, even if AVC tells me that the movie vid that I'm converting is of the DivX format, nevertheless I'm making sure that it plays right by converting it even if it's DIVX as the FourCC designation says.

Time-consuming, but it's better than sorry.

An online acquiantance and her friends had labored on what is considered their most difficult work to date, Haruhi Suzumiya, and judging from her description of the ongoing scripting and dub work, this was no ordinary TV series -- this was a global fandom phenomenon, defying logic, taste and art, even going far as for her witty visage to appear on a protest placard in the Gaza Strip.

I have no qualms about its airing delay. On the contrary, it's worth the wait.

OBTW, I would've recommend to her Baka-Tsuki if she needs to read up some more details not quite captured in the TV show.

On daily recon missions at EGF, I get yet another plea for help: "I got hacked at home".

I don't know how the hell they got whacked by a game account hacker, but those hapless players claim to have done nothing wrong -- no porn, no Limewire, no warez, no game hacks, etc. They also claim that they're the only ones who know their passwords.

But the one thing I always believe that they should keep confidential are some of their most vital personal information -- even cellular phone numbers -- that most players often put up on their Friendster pages.

AND THAT ITSELF IS EPIC FAIL.

Because hackers will use any information to hijack accounts, and they'll use all available script kiddie gear to do that, including social engineering.

Chrissakes, and those kids should be using their antivirus utilities and change their passwords often.

If Aoi Hana works great as an adaptation of the manga, this series could possibly be the logical -- and well-rounded (unlike some LFB-friendly knockoffs) -- successor to Marimite, and so different to boot. :) Don't worry, though, the supporting cast has much experience.

Really nice visual narrative (but never be able to venture in-base). Well, among the pics is a warning posted by the COMFLEACTS (Commander, Fleet Activities) to Navy personnel who wish to venture up the stairs.

Good thing one of the guys in-base explained the mystery at the commentaries:
